Good morning RJ,

After officially taking office a few weeks ago, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has hit the ground running. In her latest action, Hobbs assembled a special commission to review operations of the state prison system. Hobbs said that she will not wait long to address one particular issue in Arizona prisons: the quality of medical care and mental health programs.

In the latest from the Abdullatif Aldosary trial, Aldosary's murder charge was downgraded from premeditated first-degree murder to second-degree murder after some interesting revelations were revealed. As the trial continues to unfold, the defense plans to call its final three witnesses today, with closing arguments possibly beginning as early as tomorrow.

And, in Maricopa, the Maricopa Arts Council announced they will be hosting a free, online abstract art contest. The contest is open to all Maricopa residents aged 14 or older, with the deadline for submissions being Friday, March 3.
