Good morning and happy Saturday RJ,

While the latest edition of Pinal Ways mainly details prominent figures who have participated in our Pinal's People series, the foundation of the magazine has always been to showcase the best food, events and attractions you can find within the county lines.
Prickly Pear Festival returns to Superior
One story featured in the latest edition continues that foundation, highlighting one of Superior's best summer attractions: the Prickly Pear Festival. Prickly pear cactus was something of a wonder remedy for early Native Americans. The fruit is high in vitamin C, calcium, dietary fiber and kaempferol — an antioxidant that's an additional aid against cancer and heart disease.
Superior has grown accustomed to celebrating the prickly pear, and all the treats that can be made from its fruit and pads, every August when the fruit is ripe for picking. Superior's 12th annual Prickly Pear Festival will be on Aug. 26. A street fair on Main Street promises plenty of food and retail vendors. Guest speakers will cover topics such as food, natural healing, horticulture and sustainability. Check out all of details of this one-of-a-kind event.
